CEMEX Philippines Vows to Help Build Houses
CEMEX Philippines in partnership with the Cebu Provincial Government, Cebu local government units and various non-government organizations pledged some P25 million, donated by the various CEMEX branches worldwide, in assistance to Yolanda survivors. CEMEX is a leading global producer and marketer of cement, aggregates, and ready-mix products.

The partnership's project is dubbed as “Build Unity” which includes the construction of houses and classrooms, and livelihood. With the help of Gawad Kalinga, four (4) unity villages are set to be built. SunStar Cebu reported that forty-four families in Bogo City and another forty-four in Daanbantayan will have new houses by August.
CEMEX Philippines together with the Department of Education Cebu Division will also rehabilitate Kawit National High School in Medellin.
CEMEX will construct a community health center in Malapascua Island. provide a bancambulansya (ambulance boat) to the island barangays of Carnaza, Batbatan, Malapascua and Gibitngil in Daanbantayan, and provide training on masonry and vocational courses to typhoon survivors in San Remigio.
The company's corporate communications and public affairs director Chito Maniago said that the beneficiaries were chosen after a series of consultations with their partner NGOs, affected residents and their own assessment of the affected communities. They hope to assist other towns when additional donations from their partners and other private foundations arrive.
